Microsoft has now updated Windows XP Mode to make it accessible to more PCs. The requirement of hardware virtualization technology has now been removed, which was previously required to run Windows XP mode.

Windows XP Mode is designed to provide small business and mid-sized businesses running Windows 7 Professional (or higher) the ability to run Windows XP productivity applications that may not be compatible with Windows 7.

Windows XP Mode will of course continue to use hardware virtualization technology such as Intel VT (Intel Virtualization Technology) or AMD-V if available. Windows XP Mode and Windows Virtual PC is available on Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Ultimate.

The Windows XP mode update is available now, which enables Windows XP Mode for PCs without Hardware Assisted Virtualization Technology.
