Sprint has announced the phone everyone was eagerly waiting for. Yes, the first ever 4G phone, HTC Evo 4G, with a massive 4.3’ display, 1GHz QSD8659 1GHz snapdragon processor, 1gb built-in memory and a monstrous 8mp camera with the capability of 720p video and WiMax as its 4g technology.

According to press release,

The HTC EVO 4G is the world’s first 3G/4G Android device and offers one of the most robust multimedia experiences on a wireless phone. Sprint 4G delivers peak download speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G, giving HTC EVO 4G the fastest data speeds of any U.S. device available today.

Other features of HTC Evo 4g include Android 2.1 OS, 512mb Ram, microSD card which can be upgraded to 32Gb, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Sprint TV, HDMI Output, 1.3 mp forward-facing camera, Assisted-GPS with Sprint Navigation, seven home screens, a personal organizer, Google apps, Sprint TV, messaging, and Outlook Exchange support for contacts and e-mail. One of the best features is that it can be used as a Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. Other physical controls include a 3.5mm headset hack, a micro-USB port, a power control, and a volume rocker.

Looking at the announced specs, this might be the best Android based smartphone right now. Sprint has announced in a press release that the phone will be available this summer. However, no details’ regarding the pricing or its WiMax plans has been released.

According to Sprint,
Customers will be able to purchase HTC EVO 4G through all Sprint channels and through national retail partners, RadioShack, Best Buy and Walmart, this summer. Pricing will be announced at a later date and pre-registration begins today at www.sprint.com/evo.
